The recent growing interest in congenital heart disease makes this book by Castellanos welcome indeed, particularly since his pioneer work in angiocardiography has played an important role in the development of the newer technic so useful in the study and diagnosis of congenital anomalies.
Every cardiologist would do well to read this book, which represents the mature thinking of a major contributor to the field. The book is divided into three parts and is adequately illustrated. The first part deals with the embryology of the heart, the fetal circulation, the changes that occur in the circulation following birth, the peculiarities of the cardiovascular apparatus of the child and a survey of the various methods for examining the heart of the child.
