Ingestion de produits caustiques chez l'adulte. The full text of this article is available in PDF format. The purpose of this study was to report the experience of our service on the particularities of the management of children with caustic esophageal stricture.
Ten cases have progressed to esophageal stricture. This retrospective study brings out their characteristics clinical, para-clinical, therapeutic and evolution. The mean age was 3. Fifty percent of our patients are being expanded and we deplore one death in extended esophageal stenosis. The care of these children is medico-surgical, treatment is based on endoscopic dilatation with the requirement of a long-term monitoring, given the risk of cancer of the burnt esophagus.

The esogastroduodenal endoscopy and esogastroduodenal transit make it possible to diagnose caustic lesions, to classify them according to their severity and extent, to assess the prognosis and to provide a therapeutic indication  .
